What needs to be done?

Due to Afghanistan being a landlocked country and four decades of war, most of the country’s population is deprived of readily available clean drinking water. What this means is that most of the population is left to travel long distances just to get clean water for their day-to-day needs. To combat this HRM, with the help of its donors, it will drill wells, install water pumps on incomplete water wells that communities have not been able to finish due to financial restraints, and provide temporary water tankers that hold on average 10,000 litres of clean drinking water.

Water well (Soft ground)

We dig water wells and install a hand water pump. It costs HRM £700 to dig these.

Water well (Hard Ground)

These are deep water wells and a hand pump in those areas that have tough ground where there is a need for water. It costs HRM £2150.

Upon receipt of funds, the survey team will allocate an area for the construction of the water well. Depending on the time of year it may take between 4 – 6 weeks. It will be delegated to our water related projects contractor.
