Technical School

Human Relief Missions technical school offers orphans a unique opportunity to receive both education and practical skills. Recognising the economic challenges faced by families in Afghanistan. The apprenticeship model employed by the technical school allows orphans to engage in traditional learning activities based on the local curriculum such as reading, writing, and expressing their ideas. However, what sets this program apart is that for a significant portion of their school day, students get the chance to observe and learn directly from skilled mechanics in our workshops.

Our approach ensures that orphans not only gain academic knowledge but also acquire practical skills, providing them with a viable means of earning a steady living after completing their education. By integrating these real-world experiences into their schooling, the technical school offers a pathway for orphans to lead self-sufficient lives without the necessity of pursuing higher education or attending university. This holistic approach to education equips them with the tools to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.

‘‘

The Prophet ﷺ said: “I and the one who sponsors an orphan shall be in Paradise like these two” – he raised his index finger and the one next to it, holding them together

HRM values education for children

At Human Relief Mission, we believe in the need to educate, learn, and grow – helping each child to gain a vital education, learn much-needed skills and grow into a bright and happy future insha’Allah.

We’re committed to breaking the ongoing cycle of poverty that so many children face. We want to ensure that all children receive at least primary schooling and that adults are taught to read and write too.

Human Relief Mission build and rehabilitate schools, stocking and equipping them to provide quality teaching. We train teachers so that they give the best education possible, and support schools with milk and nutritional meals, to ensure that children are healthy enough to concentrate and learn. As well as this, we work with adults, teaching them in ways that work best for their situation and culture to facilitate learning in the safest way possible to transform lives.

What does the Quran say about education?

The Qur’an repeatedly encourages Muslims to seek knowledge, in order to gain success.

Numerous verses highlight the importance of education, such as:

‘‘

Read! In the name of your Lord who created.

Qur'an | 96:1

These verses illustrate that education and seeking knowledge are not only commendable but also a means of raising one’s status.

Many scholars allude to the concept that education is the essence of knowledge. Seeking knowledge and gaining a good Islamic education is a means of strengthening our Iman, understanding and relationship with Allah.

Seeking knowledge is a means of having our sins forgiven and attaining huge reward:

‘‘

Whoever treads on a path in search of Islamic knowledge, Allah will ease the way to Paradise for him. The angels will lower their wings, pleased with this seeker of knowledge, and everyone in the heavens and on earth will ask forgiveness for the knowledgeable person, even the fish in the deepest of waters will ask for his forgiveness.
